Meal Plan: May 8, 2009

Broccoli rabe and tatsoi have bolted! But we’re still trying to pull off some leaves.

Spagetti sauce from market tomato seconds – S did a really nice job.

Sick of peanut butter sandwiches, I made a spinach lasagna just for lunches! Too bad it turned out overly dry.

    I thought you said you couldn’t use mustard greens in the smothered method?

    • Oh yeah, I did, didn’t I? I had a drafted post explaining that we tried mustrad greens one night and they were a pungent mess.

      These are red giant mustard greens, instead of the normal variety. I’d never heard of it before, but the red leaves felt less tough so we thought they’d work.

      Reading this description, I’m glad we did. It sounds like they’ll work really well!

      • Nevermind! We had it last night. Though certainly less pungent than regular mustard greens, the red giant variety was still much less delicious than kale or spinach.
